This engaging and enjoyable course is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with a little experience of solving cryptic crosswords, or those who just want to get better !
It starts with the simplest ideas and easiest types of clue and gradually builds to the more advanced aspects of cryptic puzzles. Each topic is clearly explained and followed by practical activities to build your solving skills. Those wishing to improve their solving skills can join the group on the third day, when we will work through progressively more difficult puzzles, interspersed with short reviews of theory and solving techniques. The tutor, Henry Howarth, has taught over 250 adults how to solve cryptic crosswords and is the author of Learn How to Solve Cryptic Crosswords. There is no supplementary charge for single accommodation on any of our activity breaks, and as normal, we can arrange free transport ( on your day of arrival and on your day of departure ) between the hotel and the bus and railway stations.
